Hi! I am Michele, the gal behind the camera. I am a coffee addict, animal lover, traveler, and an introvert. Yep, I have a hard time putting myself out there, or meeting new people. So how and why did I start my own photography business? I’m still asking myself that questions all the time.
I didn’t really get interested in photography until I was in college. I needed 3 more credits so I took photography as an elective class. It was a challenge to learn how to use a SLR camera. It was an even bigger challenge learning how to expose my own film in the dark room. I enjoyed the way I could show the rest of the world what I saw through the lens in my own way. I typically took images of wildlife and landscapes. I was going to college and wanted to be an architect/ interior designer. Not once did I ever consider becoming a photographer as a career.
After graduation I was working as an interior designer. I liked the company I was working for, and I enjoyed the challenge of each new project. I purchased my first DSLR, and kept taking images of wildlife and landscapes. Life was going great. Of course, that is when you get hit with the curve ball you didn’t expect. December of 2008, I was laid off from my design job, and the market was not doing so well. Even then I never thought about photography as a career option. That came a year or so later. To keep busy I started volunteering with the Huron Valley Council for the Arts. After months of unemployment I got a job as a barista. For a coffee addict it was heaven. I was also dog sitting for friends and family. That is how I met Hoss. Hoss is My WHY, the reason for my aha moment. Even today I tear up thinking about him and how much he influenced my life.
